Monday Night Swing Dance Events @ SA Firefighters Banquet Hall (doors open at 6:30 pm)

• ​6 May- DJ night celebrating Frankie Manning Month, bring snacks to share.

• 13 May- Live performance featuring Lamplighters Big Band, bring snacks.

• 20 May- DJ night, bring snacks to share.

• 27 May- Memorial Day sock hop party, featuring Mo-Dels band.

May Monday Night Classes: Arrive early. Classes start promptly at 7 pm.

• East Coast 1: Taught by Nick and Emma, perfect if it's your first night of dance or you want to brush up on your basics.

  • This 6-count dance is where it all starts! Dance studios originally created East Coast swing in the 1940s as a variation of the popular "Lindyhop".

• Shag 1: Taught by Johnathan and Alexandria, for those starting to learn the basics of this fast-paced 8-count dance, with songs in the 180-200 bpm range.

  • Collegiate shag is known for its pulse rhythm, danced on the balls of the feet; originating in African American communities in the Carolinas in the 1920-30s.​

• Solo Jazz Vernacular: Taught by Leslie, for dancers of all levels wanting to build confidence in their solo dance steps that can be added to partner dancing or performed independently.
